#PickKind with Inconvenience Yourself Day

In Pickaway County, The Savings Bank has been proud to be a part of the #PickKind initiative. This movement was started by a group of interested citizens who value the importance of kindness in our everyday lives. You may even have seen the blue #PickKind signs all over Pickaway County, proudly displayed by local businesses!

It’s in that spirit today that we chat about a little known “holiday.”

Inconvenience Yourself Day is all about going out of your way for the benefit of others. It might not be convenient to postpone your afternoon tasks in order to help your neighbor carry in her groceries, but Inconvenience Yourself Day reminds you that sometimes it’s more important to extend a helpful hand. What a great day to #PickKind!

Here are a few ways to celebrate this helpful holiday.

  1. Reach out! Between quarantine and bad weather, many folks are not getting the social interaction they really need. Take the time today to set up a call or chat with a family member or friend you haven’t spoken to in a while. You might just make their day!
  2. Shop local. It sure is convenient to visit a big box store or website to do your shopping. However, if you go out of your way to visit local small businesses, you’re not only supporting your local economy, but you’re helping your friends and neighbors succeed.
  3. Keep an ear out in the workplace. Is a co-worker struggling with a new program or process? Now is not the time to be apathetic. Offer to help, even if it means throwing off your schedule. It could help make your workplace experiences smoother in the long run!
  4. Cook dinner for your family. It’s tempting to grab dinner on the way home from work, but a home-cooked meal can be a gesture of gratitude and respect.
  5. Ask! Some folks just aren’t comfortable asking for help sometimes. If you think someone needs your assistance, don’t be afraid to ask.

So, take a little time to Inconvenience Yourself today! And don’t forget to #PickKind every day.
