November Food Drive

November Food Drive

Every year we are so grateful for the generosity of our communities. While we host the annual food drive, it is all of you who make the real difference. That is why the food drive is back for another year, and we hope this year will be our best yet!

For over a decade, The Savings Bank has been holding a November food drive in an effort to fight hunger in our communities. Through our food drive, we hope to accomplish three things.

  1. Raise Awareness About Food Insecurity

Raising awareness about food insecurity in your community is very important. Food insecurity continues to be a problem in many communities, and a food drive is an excellent way to let community members know how we can fight this problem together.

  1. Provide Food to Food Banks and Pantries

Your local food banks and pantries rely almost entirely on donations from the community. A food drive is important because it can help provide a large stock of necessary items in a small amount of time. Food banks can utilize that stock over time in case some months do not see enough donations.

  1. Build A Stronger Sense of Community

Food drives help build a stronger sense of community. When we get the sense that other community members are in need, it builds a sense of camaraderie to do your part in eliminating that need. Not everyone can give to those in need at the same level. Some can volunteer, others can donate food, or some may decide to help in any number of other ways. All help is appreciated!

Food drives, however, rely on the support of all members of our communities. Year after year, though, all of you deliver! Every November, we see our Circleville, Ashville, Williamsport, and Lancaster branches flooded with donations and it is truly wonderful to see.

This November, those who would like to donate to our food drive may drop off eligible donations to our Ashville, Circleville, Lancaster, or Williamsport locations. Eligible donations include non-perishable dry goods like pasta and cereal, canned fruits and vegetables, and household essentials like formula. Please feel free to ask one of our friendly employees for directions on where to leave donations!

Most important of all, these donations stay local. The pantries we support each year may change, but we always make certain that the items collected in each community we serve stay within that community. To do our part, The Savings Bank will be making monetary donations to local pantries, as well.
