America 250: Fourth of July in Our Communities

America 250: Fourth of July in Our Communities

On July 4, 2026, the United States will celebrate a milestone with the 250th anniversary since the signing of the Declaration of Independence! Known as the Semiquincentennial, America’s 250th birthday is an opportunity to celebrate our communities and their history in America’s story. While festivities will take place across the country, some of the most meaningful celebrations will happen in our own backyards!

Communities throughout Pickaway, Fairfield, and more are marking the anniversary with special events that blend local history, family fun, and patriotism. Let’s go by county and see what you and your family can get up to this holiday weekend!

Pickaway County

One of Pickaway County’s most longstanding and beloved Independence Day celebrations is the Ashville Fourth of July multi-day celebration. Guests can enjoy the festivities from June 30 through July 4 at Ashville Community Park. The festival features local entertainment, food, activities, and fireworks! People from all communities are welcome!

In Williamsport, Backwoods Boom will have food trucks, live music, and historic tributes along with family fun and a pyro-musical fireworks show! Guests are encouraged to come to Ballard Park in Williamsport beginning at 5 p.m. on July 4th for the opening ceremony. Entertainment includes:

               - Circleville Barbershop Chorus

               - Flyover by the Historical Aircraft Squadron

               - 21-Gun Salute presented by the Sons of the American Revolution

               - Flag-raising ceremony

               - Unveiling of a Revolutionary War Memorial

This is a must-see!

In Circleville, local organizations are hosting local America 250 events. AMVETS Post 2256 will be hosting an event with food trucks, family activities, music, and fireworks. Circleville will also participate in a nationwide symbolic bell-ringing ceremony on July 4th commemorating the nation’s founding.

Fairfield County

Lancaster will also be hosting their annual Fourth of July parade! The parade begins at 10 a.m. and will travel from the fairgrounds through town. Guests are then encouraged to meet at the downtown Lancaster bandstand where the city will open a time capsule buried in 1976 as part of the America 250 events. Lastly, fireworks will be set off at dusk.

Madison County

London will also be participating in Fourth of July fun with two days of events. On July 3, their annual fireworks “extravaganza” will kick things off. Then on the Fourth, the City of London will host their Fourth of July parade. Guests will enjoy patriotic floats, cars, tractors, horses, and more! Check social media for more information.

For 250 years America’s story has been written by communities just like ours. For generations, farmers, teachers, first responders, veterans, and volunteers have stitched the fabric of who we are and what makes our country special. Whether you’re attending a parade, enjoying fireworks with family, or helping out and about in your community, this Fourth of July is an opportunity to be part of a once-in-a-generation celebration!

We hope everyone has a safe and happy Fourth of July and happy 250th, America!
